You've Got Mail

Isn't it strange how an email relationship can be perfect? I sometimes think it is the only truly perfect relationship that you can have.

Think about it- you get to filter out all the bad stuff and so does the person you're writing. You get to make the stories witty, because you've had time to disgest them. You get to turn the ordinary into extrordinary with just a few simple, well placed words.

Had a bad day at work? Turn it into a rant. Vent. The person on the other end will smile because they can reconize themselves in your words. Had a great shopping spree? Where else can you blather on about getting what and where, then in a letter and still have the person you're telling it to still be interested? Or at least if they aren't, you'll never know. You don't have to be there for that.

Where else can you talk your heart and not be rudely interupted?

Where else can two people who seemingly have nothing in common discover that they do indeed have things to share?

Sometimes the hardest things to say are as easy as clicking SEND.

You have to appreciate the beauty of it. The simplicity of the duplicity.

You can convince yourself that it's real, this email relationship, because it feels real.

Who are you when you write a letter? Yourself or someone better than yourself? Is it the self you save for the world, when the lights are on you or is it something else?

How easy it is to communicate without saying anything of importance at all.
